A Carpinus orientalis Magyarországon, egy új populációval a Keszthelyi-hegységből
Összefoglalás
A közleményben Bauer Norbert és Hüvös-Récsi Annamária, a Magyar Természettudományi Múzeum kutatói a Carpinus orientalis Mill. felfedezéséről számolnak be a Keszthelyi-hegységből (Magyal-tető). A 182 feltérképezett, legalább 2,5 m magas egyedet, valamint számos kisebb, visszarágott egyedet és magoncot tartalmazó állomány a faj második – feltehetően őshonos, esetleg preglaciális reliktum – előfordulása a Dunántúli-középhegységben. A faj a Keszthelyi-hegységben dolomit alapkőzeten, Veratro nigri-Fraxinetum orni tetőerdő társulásban fordul elő. A szerzők a Keszthelyi-hegységi keleti gyertyán állományt néhány szempontból összehasonlítják a Vértesben élő állománnyal. Mindkét területen elvégezték a legalább 2,5 m magas egyedek finom léptékű feltérképezését, vizsgálták a termést hozó egyedek arányát. Az állomány szerkezetére vonatkozóan a törzskerület-mérésekkel gyűjtöttek információt, de mivel a sarjcsokros egyedek aránya mindkét lelőhelyen igen magas, a törzsméret-eloszlások nem értelmezhetők közvetlenül korszerkezetként.

Carpinus orientalis in Hungary – with a new population from the Keszthely Mts
Abstract
In their paper, Norbert Bauer and Annamária Hüvös-Récsi, researchers at the Department of Botany, Hungarian Natural History Museum, report the discovery of Carpinus orientalis Mill. in the Keszthely Mts (Magyal-tető). The population, comprising 182 mapped individuals at least 2.5 m tall, as well as numerous smaller browsed individuals and seedlings, represents the second presumably native occurrence of the species in the Transdanubian Mountains and may constitute a preglacial relict population. In the Keszthely Mts, the species occurs on dolomite bedrock in the Veratro nigri–Fraxinetum orni top forest association. Its habitat has been significantly affected by historical land use. The high proportion of coppice-origin individuals of oriental hornbeam can be explained by landscape history and former land use: before the twentieth century, coppicing and forest grazing were characteristic, while in the 1960s Pinus nigra was planted in mixed strips within the stand as part of the dolomite barren-land afforestation programme. The authors compare the oriental hornbeam population in the Keszthely Mts with that in the Vértes Mountains in several respects. At both localities, they conducted fine-scale mapping of individuals at least 2.5 m tall and examined the proportion of fruit-bearing individuals. Information on stand structure was obtained by measuring stem circumference. However, because the proportion of multi-stemmed, coppice-origin individuals is very high at both sites, stem-size distributions cannot be interpreted directly as age structures.
